Once a month we celebrate Holy Communion. It is an odd thing to do. We say strange words such as, “This is the body of Christ.” And we do strange things like dipping bread into juice and eating it. It was no less strange when Jesus said these words for the first time with his disciples at the Passover meal the night before he died. In this sermon we will learn some of the background to what Jesus said and deepen our understanding of the meaning and power of this sacrament in our lives.
