Children's Ministries News & Events

It was great to see so many girl scouts from different troops working together as a CUMC family this past Sunday. Thanks to everyone who purchased cookies to support the scouts and to Kristin for putting her idea into action.

One heads up; you may notice that this Sunday is a 5th Sunday on the calendar which typically means we’ll keep the children in the sanctuary for a family friendly worship service. This Sunday WILL NOT be treated as a 5th Sunday. The nursery and Sunday School classes will be open. Why? We had a family friendly Christmas Eve service and will have another 5th Sunday type service on February 19 for Mardi Gras.

Fellowship, Food, & Fundraising @ Noodles & Company next Wednesday. We have been selected to have a fundraising night at Noodles & Company (new location on Waukegan & Lake Cook). Here’s how it works. Anyone from CUMC that eats dinner at Noodles & Company ( http://www.noodles.com/) on Wednesday, February 1 between 5:30-9:00 pm will help the children raise money for their Dimes for Debora project. We will get 25% of profits from any meals purchased by CUMC families and their friends. Another bonus, parents get the night off from cooking!

Children’s Choir will rehearse this Sunday after worship. We’ll have the girls run up and grab a quick bite to eat after Sunday School and then come back to the room with the piano in the basement for rehearsal.

Does your child have musical or speaking gifts? Something we heard at the all church meeting is that folks would like to have children participate in worship services more (music to my ears!). I’d like to compile a list of children that would be interested in playing an instrument, singing, or perhaps doing a reading. Please let me know if your daughter or son might like to share their gifts with the congregation. Thanks!
