PADS
P.A.D.S. stands for Public Assistance to Deliver Shelter. Between October and April, on the first Sunday of each month we are charged with making 150 meat and cheese sandwiches and 75 bag lunches consisting of one piece of fruit, one juice box, one treat, one bag of chips or pretzels, plus condiments and napkins. These are for the "guests" to take when they go out to job search. Members of our church congregation sign up on Pink Pads Poster to contribute items. On the first Sunday of the month, after our church service, volunteers, including children, gather downstairs to assemble sandwiches and lunch bags (adults make sandwiches, children fill lunch bags). The sandwiches are stored separately so they can be refrigerated on site, and both the sandwiches and lunches are delivered to Community Christian Church in Waukegan - a Lake County PADS site.
