This Lenten season, with the help of Pastor Adam Hamilton’s book 24 Hours That Changed the World, we will take a close look at the central event that forms the Christian faith. In one 24-hour period, Jesus ate the Last Supper that we celebrate in the sacrament of communion, then prayed in Gethsemane, was betrayed and deserted by his disciples and friends, was tried and convicted of blasphemy by the Jewish religious leadership, was sentenced to die for insurrection by the Roman governor, was tortured by Roman guards, was put to death by crucifixion, and was finally buried in a tomb. These events are described in great detail in the scriptures. In this series we will look at what happened and why and in doing so learn about ourselves and God.
You are invited to join a small group to read and discuss the book and sermons together. By taking the time to attend worship, read the book and share your thoughts and feelings with others, you will be greatly impacted by the power of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Small groups will meet on Wednesday and Sunday evenings and perhaps other times throughout the week.
